The objective of the Maintenance Superintendent is to lead a broad range of services that support the plant wide maintenance and production organizations. The Maintenance Superintendent will develop and lead the Facilities, Crane Repair, Mechanical Utilities, that supports the Central Maintenance Organization.  

  • Facilities Maintenance:  The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable to provide industrial cleaning, painting, and carpentry services that support the plant’s requirements to maintain the equipment, building, and grounds safely and cost effectively.  This includes development and maturity of semi-autonomous teams that continuously improves performance, specifically but not limited to: quality of workmanship, wrench time (craft OEE), process and procedures to sustain gains, safety, and cost reductions.  This will also include the management and supervision of contracted services that includes but not limited to: janitorial services, lawn care, snow removal, waste removal, and civil services.
  • Crane Repair:  The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable to provide the plant safe and reliable cranes that enable PCs to improve uptime and throughput.  This includes deployment and continuous improvement of solid maintenance processes and systems for proactive maintenance and sustains gains.  The Superintendent will establish annual metrics and tracking systems that drive the improvements with high level of staff and craft engagement to achieve the results.
  • Mechanical Utilities:  The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable to provide a reliable supply of process waters and waste systems that are compliant to the environmental requirements determined by the corporation or the regulators.  Maintain and improve reliability of the plant’s infrastructure including but not limited to restrooms, overhead doors, roofs, and piping and drains throughout the plant. This will also include the management and supervision of contracted services that includes but not limited to: roofing contractors, elevators, refrigeration, and plantwide heaters.

 
The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable for results within Facilities, Crane Repair, and Mechanical Utilities in the areas of Environment, Health and Safety, Productivity, Asset Management, People Development, Cost Control, Quality, and Team Maturity using ABS and REX systems such as TPM, Kaizen, daily Management, 5S etc. 
 
The Maintenance Superintendent will engage the resources at his/her disposal to meet the department objectives set by the Maintenance and Engineering Manager in support of the business objectives.  These objectives will be achieved without sacrificing a spirit of cooperation with other areas.
 
The Maintenance Superintendent will supervise an area of approximately 15 salaried resources including technicians, planners, Coaches/Group Leaders, Unit supervisors, and Engineers.  The Maintenance Superintendent will supervise an area with ~100 hourly resources including mechanics, electricians, carpenters/painters, and facilities maintenance operators.
 
The Maintenance Superintendent will report to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager of DPW & Satellites.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 
​- Minimum of 5 years of  manufacturing industry experience
- Minimum of 8 years of maintenance experience
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Strong background in using maintenance reliability tools and techniques
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work accurately and to work with cross-functional teams effectively
- Ability to lead and drive cultural change in a positive manner, influencing others on new concepts
- Experience with (and understanding of) lean manufacturing (ABS at Arconic)
- Strong oral and written communication skills in a variety of settings (shop floor, peers, plant leadership, etc)
- Understand the complexity of (and succeed in) a matrix organization

 

This position may require access to export controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
